They have a large selection of corals and fish, however their prices are high.

It's worth the trip just to see the displays. I can't afford to shop there though. Can't blame the guy though cause he's in a prime area with a great big store, four displays and a decent amount of employees. Still worth the trip just to see the two giant tanks.
I always find some "must have" when I go in there. And they give NJRC a 10% discount to card toting club members. That alone pays for membership a few times a year!

I agree with Phyl. I never walked out of there without a few corals.
Besides a NJRC discount, they also have another discount for having their frequent buyer card.

Haha, and that discount adds up quickly. $5 back after every $100 is really not THAT bad.

i dont know if this is against forum rules or not since I AM associated with trop, so mods please delete if necessary. Trop is now selling frags from the 1600 gallon display at $20 each 2/$35. Every sps in the display has been fragged and is available (depending on availablity). Ask a rep (brent or austin) what is available if unsure. We are averaging (so far) 30+ frags a week from this tank...allowing grow-out time.

purple nana
green and pink birdnest
blue tip stag

Do you guys ever get in any really nice zoos? I always see the average green ones there. I might just not look in the right place.

I moved everything out last friday. the top shelf was full to capacity this past weekend
I have done the majority of my fish shopping at Trop over the last year or so and highly recommend this place. They know everything about whatever piece of coral or fish you are looking at. Also, the pre-mixed salt water is a great time saver.

Plus they have RO/DI at 50 cents a gallon which is awesome. Though it keeps me there more often than before. ::) ::) ::)
Nice store with a lot of stuff, but prices are high, although i have found out that the more you buy the more they cut you a break. I was there about 2 weeks ago and go some of the small frags that go for 19.99 each and ended up getting 4 for the price of 3. Its worth the trip to look at the big display tanks, not to mention the huge koi.

Everytime I have been there however they always have every fish that im looking for... Overall I give it a thumbs up

love the place, its not horribly overpriced but I noticed that every time I go near the coral section and I stand their for 20 min, nobody seems to want to help me. Or at least I cant find anyone on the floor that I can tell works there. Maybe it was coincidence but I wish I could find someone that would ask me if i neede help with something. I dunno maybe I just look like a newb.
I though this would be the best place to put this, Trop is now having rotating sales on their fish. If you can get on their e-mail list, they are sending out their specials. I don't know how often the changes will occur, but the owner said this will continue without pause. Right now Pajama cardinals, yellow tangs, coral beauties, and flame angels are all 33% off. Certain corals are also discounted. Next time around it will be different fish. If you go there make sure you give them their e-mail, we got the first e-mail this week.

I will go with over priced.
From my anemone/clownfish loving vantage point they are well over priced on anemones and clowns.
While they are no longer offering 10% discount on livestock due to the sales, they are now offering it on dry goods, just present your membership card. Anyone know their "shelf" pricing on salt? I think they also said that they revamped their pricing, but I haven't confirmed this.

Amazing what one little store across the street can do!!!
I hope it sticks around. Competition is good for all of us!
