what's with the llamas?!?!

« on: February 06, 2007, 08:11:03 PM »

my friend got a leather a few weeks back. his tank has undergone a shocking event, so i told him i would hold onto it for him untill his tank gets back to normal. im my tank and his for all i have seen it doesn't extend (open up), but some of the pylops extend. it has developed a little hole i nthe middle. and apears to be tearing. im lost i have no idea what is wrong. it is in a 75 gallon under 250 watt 10 K XM bulb. my water is fine and everything else in the tank is doing well. what could the problem be? thanks in advance

What kind of light do you have? Some get wilty under PCs and actually prefer the MHs. The stress event plus the mood may just have it a bit stressed. Beyond that, leathers grow by shedding their skin and if it doesn't have polyps out (which by your description isn't the case?) then it might be preparing to shed. Hopefully it will perk up within a week. The hole sounds a bit like it is self distructing. That would have me a little concerned (though my toadstool did that to multiply).

Good or bad car driving depends more on how a driver uses the steering wheel than the quality of the steering wheel itself.

Where do they get the Llamas??

If its falling apart, frag it. Cut the dead, mushy tissue away from the healthy tissue.

You can give it a quick Lugols dip and then keep it in an area with decent flow.

What kind of shock did it experience in the other tank?

i agree with blange.  Sounds like necrotic tissue.  Try the lugols first.  If you still see it disintegrating start fragging.

that really all that can be done.  Dipping or fragging.  the best combination may be both though.  Let me know how it turns out.

It takes time. Make sure it's in a good flow area to help clear the mucus and dead tissue.

What did you dip with?

say you had rug burn over 90% of body and somebody dipped you in rubbing alcohol for 5 minutes?  How would you feel?  Give it a few days to a couple of weeks.  I am sure it will turn around
