Also my skimmer is still producing a crap ton of micro bubbles. I bought filter floss and put it in the second chamber up against the slots where chamber #1 goes into #2 thinkin it would catch the bubbles but no such luck

Aaahh sorry bud, I was sure that would work.

What about strapping a piece directly to its output?

There's not a ton of room between the skimmer and the side of the chamber but I was gonna try and jam a piece of filter floss between the 2. See if that does anything. I'll test it out tomorrow and let you know though

Tested the tank again. Seemed like my Nitrates were right at 50ppm, maybe a smidge higher. Did another 5g WC this afternoon. Gonna attempt to mess with the skimmer and see if I can dial it in and eliminate some of these micro bubbles, also gonna see if I can wedge that filter floss in by the output

Well can't lodge a piece of floss in between the skimmer and the wall... it restricts water movement and my ATO goes off every 40 seconds or so... for now I'm gonna jam filter floss in the 2nd chamber since there's nothing in there and see what happens....

I went out and bought new regeants for my Phosphorous ULR checker.. just realized today that it was the ULR one and not the Phosphate one.

Anyways, I've read that this one is more accurate as long as you follow the equation to translate phosphorus(ppb) to Phosphate(ppm).

My result was 1ppb which translates to 0.003ppm which is insanely low. So as of right now phosphates are not an issue

Nitrates were at 25ppm before my latest water change so the tank should be good for atleast a CUC soon. Figured I'd throw around possibilities for a stock list so here it is: (Note: not all will make the final list just throwing ideas around)
1 or 2 Gold Nugget Clownfish
1 Swissguard Basslet
1 Rainsford Goby
2-3 Nassarius Snails
1 Emerald Crab
1 Blood Red Fire Shrimp

I was gonna do either the Shrimp or the Crab, not both together.

What do ya guys think?

A crew thats working very well in my 25g (bare bottom):
2 clowns (1 gladiator, 1 snowflake)
1 shark nose goby
3 florida cerith
4 small nassarius
3 sexy shrimp
1 fire shrimp

I avoid emerald crabs as some tend to 'eat what they catch'. I've got one in a 10g that has fattened up on a darwin clown that you're welcome to.

No thanks! Haha I'll stay away from the emerald then. Do you see any potential issues with this list?

Well I was gonna start to add a CUC as my nitrates are right around 10ppm give or take 1. But early Sunday morning, the front of my car was greeted by a huge deer. Now my car has gotta go into the shop and I'm stuck with out a car until I can get a rental.

That sux, see as a sign....that it wasn't meant to be.

The only concern I have with your list is the gold nugget clowns. Never kept one but have heard about them for possibly being agressive.

If you had a bigger tank I'd say do it. I just wouldn't want them to beat up that basslet

Yeah thanks.. still waiting to hear from my insurance company... sigh

That was my concern too. Which is also why I was thinkin of just adding 1 instead of a pair. I wouldn't want em beaten up on the basslet either given the price of em.

Im still uneasy about having 1.....and your right the basslets aren't cheap if thats a deciding factor

Yeah I'm still undecided on them.... of course my girlfriend was with me at the LFS and saw them and wanted em instantly lol she understands the aggression factor as I'm kinda weighing her into the hobby a lil haha

Well I managed to make my way over to my LFS today after getting all my car business taken care of. Got a rental so that's a plus.

I picked up 3 Nassarius Snails and 3 White Nerith Snails.. not sure what the difference is between White Neriths and Florida Neriths are but they look exactly the same.

I'm gonna see how well these guys do over the next few days and if all goes well, I may pick up the blood fire shrimp.

On another note, I may have decided against getting the gold nuggets, instead I was looking at a very nice pair of juvenile Black Ice Clowns to take their place.

What does every recommend as far as seeding my system with some pods?? Algaebarn seems the way to go but what would I buy exactly?? I don't have a refugium or sump so I'd be adding directly to the DT. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Anyone???

Also, do you guys think having a total of 5 nassarius Snails and 5 cerith Snails is over kill for this tank? I have 3 of each right now and the ceriths are workhorses.. a little slow but they're doing a pretty good job. As for the nassarius Snails.. I haven't seen em out since I put them in. I can see their "antenna" peeking outta the sand but that's about it
