There are RSM and YouTube tutorials on replacing the ballast. Hardest part is finding all the little screws that hold the lid together. I finally gutted mine and retrofitted it with an LED setup from stevesled.com
I bought a used RSM 250 and really like it, but I could never get the skimmer to work properly. I replaced it with a hang on back model and that freed up a lot of sump space for a reactor, etc.
They aren't near each other. The white stuff appeared and stayed but didn't spread past the initial outbreak. I think the corals bleached under it, but then grew around it.
Some white fuzzy stuff has started growing on my war coral and leptoseris Is it algae or what? The coral seem to be able to grow around the infected area. None of the other corals in my DT show any signs of this. I’ve attached 2 photos. It’s in the lower edge of the war coral an upper part of...
My 65g AIO is doing well but I am confused by contradictory suggestions I am seeing and would like to come up with a feeding schedule that is reasonable for my setup.
65g dt
3 lyretail anthias
1 coral beauty
1 6 line wrasse
1 lawnmower blenny
live rock, live sand, complete CUC incl. snails...
I just got it in December. I had one previously that suddenly cracked and emptied. I was able to get s tank only from Red Ses since I had all the innards already. I did replace their finnicky skimmer with an Aquamacc HOB that works like a charm.
i think it's not a disaster after all. The water is coming from the hose to my chiller where it links to a down spout in the sump. It looks like the drips were travlling across the back of the tank and down into the power center compartment. Crisis averted!!
This morning I noticed a little water on the floor next to my Red Sea Max 250 (66g AIO). Further investigation seems to point to a slow leak where the glass meets the base inside the power center compartment. By slow I mean one drip every 30 seconds. Can I live with it, will it eventually turn...
I posted this for Manhattan Reefs too, but for those that don't follow it I'm repeating it here also. I thought I'd share my recent experience with this highly regarded vendor because some changes have been going on with him.
I have ordered the "package" from them previously and received...
I visited POTO this week. He has a great setup, large variety of livestock (as you can see from the auction listings) and you can probably coax some non-auction items from him to take home with you!
I second the motion on the 6-line wrasse. Mine killed a tiny picasso clown from a new pair I introduced. Then he started chasing my newly introduced lyretail anthias until they grew some fishballs and started chasing him back.
