Its always nice to hear words-of-wisdom from the cooler-man. :-\
I'm placing another Zeovit order next week (probably Thursday 12/17) in case anyone wants to get in on it. (Expected date of arrival is around Jan 4-5th). You may want to make some calculations and see what you may need over the next 3-5 months or so.
Thank you.

Jim thanks for your time today I hope I didn't make you late. Anyway I guess it's fair to say i'm in the club now? Researched a bunch and I'll have a good list for your order. Thanks again!
If I didn\\\'t have so much time and money invested in this tank I\\\'d smash it in the street!

EARLY EXPERIENCES WITH ZEOVIT AND D-D SALT
I’d like to share a few observations regarding these products in two of my systems:
(A). 500 gal system including 40 gal frag tank
I mentioned previously that I will be tearing down my 500 gal tank, changing the rock and rock structure, and starting over with a 100% water change using D-D salt. There was quite a delay in obtaining the Fiji Totoka rock, but I have it now (it’s beautiful) and hope that it will be cured by early March. I don’t plan to set up the Zeovit reactor until I finish the project. However, I have been using the Zeovit “additives” in just the frag tank and am happily astonished at the results, especially considering the manner in which I am dosing. Over the past 2 months, almost on a daily basis (perhaps, 5 days per week), I shut off the circulation from the 40 gal frag tank to the rest of the system for about 4 hours each evening. (Only power heads operate during this time). I then dose the frag tank with the Zeovit additives based on 40 gal of water. After 4 hours, the general circulation is resumed, so the additives in the 40 gal sump go back into the main tank (about 450 gal water) so they are being diluted more than 10 times. Initially, I was not expecting to see much of anything from this routine, but I am extremely excited to tell you that I am seeing colors I’ve never seen before in many of my frags! And, I’m not even using the zeolite reactor yet! I wish I had a SLR camera to take photos…..(my compact digital only gives blue pictures
). I have several monteporas that were just plain brown for years. I don’t even remember when or where I got them, and on several occasions almost discarded them. Recently, I happened to notice that some are a brilliant orange and others are pretty lavender! (These pieces can be viewed in my 120 in my pet shop.)
Here are the Zeovit additives I’ve been using, most on a daily basis, some once-a-week as recommended:
Snow
B-Balance
Pohl’s Xtra
Amino acids
Sponge Power
Coral Vitalizer
Macroelements
Fluoro-Iodide
Iron
Recently, I started using the following, but the positive results occurred before using these:
Stylo-pocci glow
Spur 2 trace elements
I should also mention that I’ve been adding more potassium (Zeo K-Balance) and Magnesium than ever before (almost daily), and have been faithfully testing for each once-a-week.
(B). 120 gal Tank in Pet Shop
On Christmas, I spent the entire day re-vamping my 120. (I celebrated Christmas on the 26th). I drained the tank, removed the rock, stirred the sand (before draining), built a new reef (less rock; more open; used acrylic rods and thorite cement), filled the tank with D-D salt, and set up a Zeovit reactor. (After the first 4 weeks I started adding Zeovit additives.) With so many changes, it is impossible to evaluate, or know how much benefit is contributed by the various factors, but the final outcome is very promising so far. I’m very happy with the way the tank (now, mostly SPS) is looking. SPS polyps are extending more than I’ve ever seen in any of my tanks and the colors are brilliant. Of course the tank is still “new” so I’m getting some brown algae on the glass, but I’m sure that will soon resolve.
I will hopefully be able to better evaluate the D-D salt once I re-vamp my 500…..but so far, I at least have nothing “bad” to say about this salt. I will also soon resume my salt analysis mini-project (using aquariumwatertesting.com) by including samples of the D-D salt. (The heart of basketball officiating season is almost over…..65 games in 90 days! … Whew!! ;D
just curious... how's the out come on these systems now?
thx

Id also like to hear how your tank is going? I'm a proud member of the zeo club!
I figured id add to this thread its been dead for. While but hey let see how many guys/gals out there use zeovit.
If you do how long?
What type of reactor?
Have you seen a difference from before you started? If so explain what kind of differences(pics before and after if possible)
What do you dose?
And of course our favorite part, lets see some pictures.
For me I've been using zeo for abt 5 months now. I started after my big system crash. I lost over 65 colonies in 3 days due to a massive RTN event caused by a bacterial infection brought on by a shipment I got that was delayed 12 hours from Jakarta, the water in the bags was abt 50-55 degrees. I acclimated them too fast BC I was worried abt the condition and quality of the water the corals were in. I should not have put a few pieces in my system When I saw them but I tried to save them. They were partially rtn'ed but I figured if i could save part of it then it would grow back.
Well I was wrong, and the next day the temperature went from the 60s to 90 for just one day. My chiller was not turned on yet BC it wasn't needed and the temp in the tank spiked to 86 degrees(I wasn't home, was doing a 24hr shift at the firehouse) so i didn't know till the next day.
When i got home I had lost 2/3 of my entire shipment of 48 colonies. I removed them did a 60% water change and ran Mega carbon to try and neutralize the effects. I also had a separate system that I had my frags and other colonies in so i took the ones that looked fine and moved them(dumb move) the next morning all my frags RTN'ed on me and the colonies were 1/2 dead. And the rest of the shipment was lost. After 3 days I lost almost everything.
So when i decided to restart and rebuild I doubled the size of my system added. Mega chiller and a zeovit reactor. I dose te zeo Bak and zeo start daily for 10 days after media replacement then 2x week. I also dose Pohls extra 3x week and amino acids.

Mike,
At what dose are you adding the Pohls extra and Amino Acids per volume of water. Directions say one thing others dose less?
I have abt 100g I dose abt 3ml 3x week Pohls extra and i do 2-3 drops of amino acid.
