Thread: Frag Swap 2012 Suggestions from an attendee

  1. #101
Not to make excuses ER, but part of the lack of "buzz" on the forums beforehand last year was due to the fact that our website host decided to close up shop and turn us off without any warning. A lot of the BOD's time and energy was spent on getting it back online with another host, and then spending hours and hours of time to help members get onto the new site. There was about 6 months of posts that were completely lost due to this issue and it took a lot of effort to get us running "normal" again. It was a very frustrating time I can imagine... so I can understand why some of the energy wasn't placed on the Frag Swap planning.

That said, we all agree that the event needs a bit more pizazz this year to get it back to how it usually is. This thread will be a big part of doing that and all comments and suggestions are welcome.

Also, the club does buy frags and even equipment from our vendors (in addition to what they donate) for the raffles, and even the big screen TV's that we've had in the past were bought by the club to generate interest with enticing raffles. That sort of thing will definitely be a part of this years event too (maybe not a TV, but something big will be the "grand prize".)

Anyway, we're pretty close to finalizing a new location for the Swap and we'll hit you with details early and often this year!

    George,

Thank you for detailing the problems of what happened. With the ideas posted on this thread and the openness shown by the BOD on this I have no doubt this years Swap will be outstanding.

I am willing to help out to weither it be finding a location and contacting possible vendors to get this started. I have plenty of experience doing this as I've set up and run charity event by myself and did all the work to find the location and contact vendors for donations for raffles and such. I would agree that central is the key and I've have seen alot of people post up even in the deals and steals for "central" or "southern" locations and I have looked at a map and cannot figure how people think they are central or southern. I think finding something along the 195 corridor is a good plan, Wall has plenty of places and is close to the parkway and 18 but being a little further east might deter some but not alot. Freehold I think might be another good compromise too. I even know a few places is the Toms river area but again might not be the best location. Is not to hard finding places to host the event its harder trying to contact the event locations for requesting information from them. I am more then willing to help out as best I can just let me know.

Im registered for the swap and would offer my assistance as a volunteer. Didn't see another thread on it so I'm putting it out there. Im familiar with the place and area.

Thanks Chris. We'll keep you in mind when we need some help.

Would you like to get added to the frag swap committee?

I am also available to volunteer. I’m also right across the river from the convention center and if you need to stage stuff, you’re welcome to store it here.
