Etmanning's 90g Build

The other wave maker I have in this tank is a wp-25 that I’ve had for >2 years with no problems. I had another die on me but I was probably aided by the fact that I cut part of the controller off with a hole saw.....

Anyways....

Glad to see that the ATO is working, it’s used more than a gallon in the 24 hours it’s been set up. Really makes me wonder how unstable the tank must have been prior to this when I’d just dump in 10 gallons once every few weeks.

Also happy with how the skimmer’s been doing even though it’s only rated for a 65g. This is 3 days of skimmate [emoji4]

I’ll be upgrading to a new skimmer some time this month as either a birthday gift or I’ll get one myself.

Everything in the tank is doing great, all the fish are active, colorful, and are eating well. The corals are going very well too, the leather is so bushy with polyp extension.

I’m looking to get some more frags in the tank soon and am actively looking for all sorts or corals, especially softies and some easier to keep SPS. If anyone has frags they’re looking to sell or get rid of, let me know. I’ll be happy to take a look at most anything right now.

This is the view from my living room couch btw. Love it.

Weekend update:

FTS:

Had all day today to work in the tank so that’s exactly what I did.

Added the heater from my FW tank, my old one got stuck on :/

Did a 90% WC on my planted tank

Then set about creating a refugium for my reef. Previously I had a 10g tank just sitting inside my sump acting as a fuge, but this time I wanted something bigger.

So I grabbed a 18 gallon plastic container from the garage, drilled a hole for a bulkhead, and plumbed it into place.

I’m using the powerhead that used to run my media reactor (which broke) to bring water into the fuge and then it flows through a bulkhead back down into the sump.

The fuge is being lit by an old odyssea T5/MH setup I had lying around from my previous 29g reef. I’m turning off the T5s and only running the 14000K 250W Mh. Should be more than enough for the chaeto I’ll be growing, courtesy of NJRC member Haus.

The tank is doing better than ever now, and I’m looking forward to adding more fish & coral soon!

Looks great! Do you plan on adding some corals soon?

Definitely, Im looking to get a bunch of cheap, fast-growing corals like zoas, mushrooms, and GSP to fill in the tank soon and then move into some LPS & SPS. Ill be bringing my wallet to the febuary 18th meeting and hopefully picking up a bunch of frags then :)

Update:

Made a quick trip over to another local reefer, Josh, who lives surprisingly close to myself and got a few nice frags tonight.

GSP colony and African steel Zoas
Note: I know it’s a weed but I really like gsp

And “mystery” SPS (identify please)

Very happy to finally be filling the tank with coral. The GSP rock is definitely helping with that.

Jut got a great deal on a used SCA 303 skimmer that should be arriving on my birthday! Very excited to finally get rid of the underpowered coralife one I’ve been using.
