Do all Redsea aquariums have chewed up silicon in the corners?

might want to call red sea directly, looks like a terrible silicon job.

Ahh, well honestly, for the amount of money those tanks cost, I would expect better. Can't comment if that's normal on red sea tanks but on deep blue tanks, I've seen nicer silicone jobs and those tanks are a fraction of the price.

Can’t say anything for the integrity. I wonder why they chose to use black silicone. clear seems to work fine, and seems to make more sense. My tank does have a little extra that squeezed out on the corners, but since it’s clear. I never even noticed it, until I just looked specifically for it.

Im so upset with the company one of the representatives contacted me saying how i should have inspected that when it was being delivered this is just a slap in the face
Everyone knows to inspect the glass for cracks but to inspect the silicon when it was being delivered thats just ridiculous

When did you receive the tank? By them saying you should have inspected upon receipt, implies they know it's not perfect.

I purchased it 3/10/18 i don’t remember the delivery date but i think it was a couple days to a week later

after setting it up
i had a door closing problem (still not fixed) i did not want to fill it up the representative said i might have to replace a wall of the cabinet

I got fed up waiting i needed to start cycling (6 weeks) because all of this was delaying my YouTube videos series for my channel, i filled it anyway while inspecting the tank for leaks i noticed the silicon

I contacted them again and it went back and forth until i got the response that it was normal i wanted to see if it was so i posted here and a couple of other forums that im part of to see if it was really “normal”

Its not....

I would tell them it's completely unacceptable and that you'll be posting that they don't stand behind their product on various social media sites and message boards. That should be inspected prior to leaving their facility. For the amount they charge, it should be perfect.

Threatening is not my thing the truth the public should know what they should expect and they should know to inspect the tanks before they accept it (even though you feel pressured because the driver is standing there waving the paper at you while you open the box in the street)

The reason i have not made a post like that is because im still communicating with them

i also hate drama and posting things like that brings drama
im not saying I wouldn’t do it if push comes to shove but i guess ill have to see

I know this is an old posting but wanted to let everybody know the experience I had with that exact same issue. My Red Sea reefer 525 Xl have been up for about 2 years. The tank started leaking in the same location as the OP. The front glass started to come apart from the side glass panal and was leaking all over my carpet. A HUGE LEAK. I was able to stopeak by applying pressure with a ratchet scrap.I contacted them and was told the tank is our of warranty and that it's normal to have silicone leaks and for me to keep my case confidential.

I think everyone should know the kind of quality that's being sold and the customer service received and it should not be covered up to sell more high price products. I was told to buy a new tank since the silicone damage is non-repairable. I will be staying clear of Red Sea reefers tanks and going with a waterbox for my replacement. Be careful they will leak and it's not normal.

Wow, that's awful... I have a RSR 450 so that scares me. Why would they ask you to keep it confidential? Are they willing to do anything for you? If not, you should definitely be telling everyone you can.

all current red sea tanks now have a protective strip over the silicone for added security.
