Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
My problem with breaking the surface is fitting the box, the camera (and me) between the halides and the water surface under the hood. I think this probably works better with pendants or lots of room in your hood (or a camera with live view).
We have a LOT of rock in our system. Probably 500# of it. We don't have a problem with food for them. I don't think I've ever seen them actively feed on foods.
Looks good. Only thing is that I'd put the excess into the section where the drain lines enter the sump. Otherwise you'll be feeding bubbles to your display.
Most wrasses are jumpers. Royal grammas are hit or miss. I haven't kept one yet.
Hmmm.... I'm drawing a total blank.
I love my scooter blennies, but again I think a mature tank is required as they're mostly pod hunters.
Crossing my fingers that it all works out. I have this terrible luck of 1 fish in 1 fish out. I put in Anthias and my chromis disappeared. At least I got to keep the prettier fish.
Good call on not getting the Kole. I think Chromis or Anthias would fill the void nicely. You could do a small angel, but the only one I'd do is the Bellus and your tank is too small for that too. Firefish?
Wendy runs a full blow SPS reef with clams growing on the bottom with just T5s. I think that gives you all you need, especially with a shallow tank (<24").
You'll have to see if that just moves the swing or if it helps eliminate it. My guess is that it will move it, but only experimenting will tell you for sure. But unless you let the house temp drop at night (we do) I think you are seeing a light swing.
Stability is definitely the key. Minimize the swing however you can. I agree with the others who said that it matters less what the TEMP is than the SWING. Let us know how that works out.
When we were feeding a 1200gph overflow (sounds like what you're doing there) we needed to use a Mag 12 with a Mag 18 impeller (result was a Mag ~15). Since you'll want to manifold you'd need the full 18, though I think a pressure rated pump would be better suited to the application (manifold)...
Trop has a tank with many anthias of different species. Of course it is at least a 600g tank, lol. We've had different anthias in our tank before, but some were more shy than others and I don't think that works well (the shy ones disappeared). That said Bartletts and Lyretails are both fairly...
It could be too much (more light than it was used to). It may need to acclimate to the light more. What happens if you put some screen over the tank? Will it open up then?
Your other anemone might have gotten used to the environment a little at a time (was the trate & PO4 better when you got...
High nitrate and phosphate is not a good environment for the anemone. I'd work on frequent water changes to get it down. Other factors could be flow and light. What light was it under before and how is that different from where you have it now?
