Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I have both the MRC I and II......where are you locating the skimmer? The reason I ask is that MRC slimmers are beckett type skimmers and are quite noisy. If you're doing a basement sump area, I'd highly recommend one....if you're planning on putting it under the tank, there will be noise...
Always love seeing the "wood and nails" part of a tale, being a hands-on, DIY type of person. Not quite sure I understand what's going on with the rectangular piece of wood, but that will just make me waiting for more pictures. The pine plank subfloor and BX wire does tell me the house is...
I too strongly believe the only true fix is to cut it out and redo the plumbing. The leaking water has contaminated the two pieces and now getting cement to attach would be difficult.
Here's what plumbers do to make sure their glue-ups don't leak:
* use cleaner on both pieces being...
It is possibly it's my old eyes or tiny netbook, but am I seeing a gasket between the bulkhead nut and the tank?
If that is the case, regardless of how the bulkhead is installed, the gasket always....always....goes on the flange side......never on the nut side.
I was certified in the late 60's using the New Brunswick YMCA pool, which is now gone. I know nothing about THIS place, but believe it's the closest to you. They use the Y in Rahway for their classes.
Paul, with your years of experience, I'd figure you'd dip you finger into the tank and taste it and know the numbers. :p
Actually nitrates of 30 is OK for a FOWLR, but a touch on the high side for corals. I've got to believe the water changes helped, but you need to do more!
"Air tubing" is rather generic and does not specify what the tubing is made of. It could be anything from "plastic" to silicone, PVC, polyurethane, fluoropolymer, thermoplastic elastomer, etc. I would highly recommend the tubing you use for a peristaltic pump is a high grade silicone...
Putting on my business cap, I want to believe that Petco purchased Dr F & S for their online business expertise. Hopefully they will be hands off, utilizing their distribution to bring down shipping costs for Dr F & S. The Dr. F & S is too strong to let it go. Just wait and see.
I too am an IO user....and dose to keep my alk and calc were I like it. A "50 gallon bag" makes approximately 41 gallons at 1.026. What I like about it is that it is ocean water....same parameters as ocean water....and that is what I want when doing a water change.
This build looks phenominal! Love the pictures...looks real clean. But I do have to question, why schedule 80. We have nothing that comes close to the pressures rated for schedule 80. You lose internal diameter when using schedule 80.
Wow, wow and wow! The slideshow went too fast. But I liked everything I saw. Loved the pictures of what I'm assuming were the kids, you and whomever. Tagging along to see more.
As far as those commenting on moving to NC....I have a house down there (that I'm trying to...
