Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Cool tank temps (74'ish, if I'm not mistaken) and a LOT of feeding (3x a day?) are required for Seahorses from what I've read. I don't have the where withall to keep them given their heavy feeding regimen.
What about putting 2 of the tunzes in one of the wave boxes on one side and one on the other? Could they be all controlled from the same place to allow greater wave?
Corals tend to release that slime or filiments when they are stressed or feeding. What else was going on in the tank while the coral was doing that? Did any others seem affected? What did your LPS (if you have any) look like? Were these new additions or corals that had been there?
Pfft! Rich, you were a very active member of the board when your work allowed. We were happy to have you on board and miss you terribly already! You even did a great job at disguising exactly how much you hated note-taking! Thanks again for your service to the club and we look forward to a time...
Congratulations Hawkeye (AKA Phil519) for winning against such a worthy opponent. Thank you for volunteering to take on the secretary position. In this year of MACNA it will be a critical task to keep us focused and on task.
Thanks to those who voiced their right to vote. We look forward to...
Great first shot, Bob. The clam looks great. The only reason I know it was taken at an angle is because you told me, so Kudos for defying the laws of distortion! Maybe a little too much depth of field because the things AROUND the clam are a little too in focus.
The following are my thoughts...
Thanks to Andy & Jeanne for opening your beautiful home to us! We had a wonderful time and really appreciate it! It was great to meet so many new faces this month. Those of you who we just met today... get posting!
I didn't get a chance to take many pictures today, so hopefully those of you...
Or sooner, if possible. You DO NOT want to let that thing reproduce. You'll be miserable. I'd go so far as to pull the rock out to be sure you get it all.
Bob, I don't think that the Macro/Zoom lens being offered there gives you the capabilities that you're looking for. You're better off, IMO with a dedicated, fixed focal length lens. While Sigma & Tamron make admirable lenses, that lens is not one I see touted as being "as good as Nikon". I'd...
It is very helpful to the host & hostess of our monthly meetings for folks to bring a covered dish/appetizer to help cover the food/side dishes for the meeting. Anyone planning on bringing food should update your RSVP with any food items you plan on bringing so that others can plan accordingly...
Yes, just slide the lexan/plexi into that groove (should be able to slide it in from one end).
I also feel that if it has a channel for the guard that it is likely something they expect to be there. Hopefully the innards are designed to allow for enough airflow not to cause damage to the...
And if you're using a tripod to capture the image the loss of light is compensated by a longer shutter time. The only time that loss is signficant is when you're trying to capture fast moving fish, in which case I'd shoot without the tubes and crop the image.
If you paid 103 online then 109 locally where you didn't have to wait (especially if you were able to get the extra couple of parts) sounds like a decent deal to me. No?
