Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
OMG it is SOOOOOO necessary. It is a UV filter (picture the filter for your camera or what they do to the sunglasses). It protects the corals from the VERY harmful and VERY damaging UV rays. Without this special shield (no not just glass/plexi) you will burn your corals. If you've cracked or...
The second picture looks either too close to the coral for the lens or like you're at an angle to the glass. The second to last one look out of focus, so I'm guessing too close to the coral?
Re: AGA 120 (very few pictures and lots of dull writing)
Nice plumbing parts! ;D
Looks like you're almost to the point where you can put water in that bad boy!
Hmm.. No sand. Filter sock. Particulate, not bubbles, right? That's tough. If you're filtering as much as you can out of the tank and sucking the detritus out of the sump/tank during water changes you may just have it as good as it can get? Are you running carbon? Active or Passive?
Is the tank short enough that the glass thickness won't be a problem without the rim? Just because it is seamless doesn't mean that it will still be structurally sound when you remove the rim...?
A 76* house may have been enough of a catalyst to drive your tank temps up. What had your house temp been running before the tank temp spike? The warmer your house the warmer your tank will run. How long has your tank been up? What pump are you using for a return pump? Do you have a fan over...
Use your current salt, get your current results--within reason. You could try it and test the fresh mixed water. That would let you see whether or not the water change is likely to help. If not go ahead and use the B-Ionic.
The problem with IO is that it is going to produce results largely in keeping with the results you have now. Low Ca, low Mg. So you can either use better salt (long run?) or pick up the additives you need to get the Ca/Alk/Mg up where you need them to be (Bionic sells all 3 components).
If there's no livestock in the tank you can do a larger change. Again, if you want to get your numbers up you're going to have to use a "reef" salt. Red Sea Coral Pro, Tropic Marin, Reef Crystals, Seachem Reef...
