Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Best to look for someone in your area. Most folks sell frags to club members for 5-10$ depending on the frag. You should offer to purchase them, not ask for freebies (and then add in the inconvenience of asking someone to ship). Try a WTB post in the FS/FT forum for this, making sure to list...
In an effort to get this thread back on track, I've removed the ruckus. Ryan has apologized for his assumptions and subsequent posts. Further questions will be asked in their own appropriate threads/forums. Thanks for your understanding.
We used to do water changes with a bucket at the top of a laddar siphoning down to the tank below. Oh those were the days. Back before we became water moving machines. Luckily we learned quickly that the ONLY way to move water was to use a pump... not a siphon!
Fast forward to July of '05 and...
Good luck, Olivier. If you put a ball valve on the pump output you'll be able to dial control the flow to better measure the outflow and figure out which pump would best suit that without needing to be restricted
You've measured the FLOW properly, but not the capacity. By increasing the pump output (mag 18?) you would see where the failure point is for the maximum amount of flow you can put through the overflows and not... overflow!
Sorry for your loss! That's awful. Unfortunately, whether introduced right next to the PH or not, this is not an uncommon outcome, making them less than suitable for the typical hobbyist tank.
Very cool, Mike! Anthony Calfo has done demonstrations in the past of "fragging" anemones. Cool that...
If you have even one 2" pipe the rate should be more than 300 gph. My 1" pipe does 600. How wide is the overflow area? What is limiting you to 300gph? What would happen if you pumped 800gph at it? Where would it fail? Would the tank level get up too high? The water drain from the overflow area...
I use the zeo amino acids from AquariumSpecialty. Does the green happen that fast? I thought that was an "over time" thing that happened to the skeletin if there was too much phos in the water for a prolonged period?
The Zeo people will tell you that phos remover products will drive the PO4...
You could "bend" the hose by filling it with sand and heating it up and then bending it. It would then have a more natural curve to it and less likely to kink on you.
I know. You were looking for hose, but that's the best I could do!
We've talked about this from time to time in this forum, so I thought I'd check the interest level for the November meeting. It would be the same presentation that I gave last November on basic photography, so nothing new from that, but for those who haven't seen it or were just getting started...
