Early on I was trying to raise cheato algae. Super unsuccessful. It would just waste away.
No kidding. Not enough nutrients.
I was getting my glass covered overnight/2 days with diatoms.
Zero/low nitrates and phosphates under 0.25. use API/Red Sea...so eye ball...
I dose 100 ml of neonitrates and still dont get too high of a reading but no diatoms or anything showing up, so a necessary evil till I can tweak things I guess.
Seems silly adding nitrates when so many kill em selves trying to export.

Reason I ask is I always see people "SAVING" Fish from these chains.
IF people stop buying sick/dying fish to save them, maybe they take better care.

My nitrates are always 0. Even with heavier feeding and no skimmer on.
If I feed too much or use reed roids my phosphates skyrocket along with the nitrates.
So I found myself adding a few capfuls of NeoNitro to try and artificially raise my nitrates...
Reason I ask is...I feel that is the next stage in my self culturing progression.
