Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I don't know how to take pay pal. I will extend if I know someone is interested. I will extend it until the 12th so mail can go through. I want to be able to pass shirts out on the October 22nd meeting.
If you don't want a name on the front, I won't include it. Some people just put there...
Day 8 tank pests. Every time you see something new in the tank, you become afraid that it may become a problem. I was going to post on some nuisance corals, but that changed this morning. This morning I saw this white spot on my Orchid Dottyback. I have seen a few white spots before on it and my...
Yes, They may make us wait in the main lobby (This is what I have seen for most tours there) until everyone gets there. If you are late, you should be able to catch up.
I do to, especially since I can't see into my tank from the sides or back, and my lights normally block looking down. Taking pictures this way has helped my fine many an aiptasia as well.
Day 7. This set of pictures was taken with a waterproof camera inside the water looking down showing a variety of corals. In the upper right is a blue mushroom that fell in a hole in the rock. It is doing pretty well there now, but wasn't attached in this picture.
In this second top down, you...
Day 6 is a Rhodactis Mushroom, I think. The first picture is shortly after feeding when it was one mushroom as it closed around the food.
It has since divided as shown in the picture below in mid division. It tends to fluoresce green in UV or actinic only light.
Day 5. I started noticing some of my blue leg crabs walking around with some of my snail shells. Then I noticed one of them holding a smaller hermit in the water all day. I should have left them alone as he couldn't attack or crawl while holding the other hermit. I placed them on the gravel...
Day 4 is a Florida Ricordea. It is smaller than the Yuma. When I got these, they were a pail yellow. I am not sure if it was from bleaching or shading. It has darkened, but hasn't moved from over the 2 babies nearby.
In this picture, the Ricordea folded which is unusual. I was feeding the tank...
This is the last week I am taking orders for NJRC tee-shirts. They are a great way for someone to see who you are at weekly meetings or other club events. Either mail in you order early this week or order a Jenkinson's Aquarium on Sunday October 8th. I have 7 ordered so far.
It was listed as a toadstool mushroom. But most pictures I see of toadstools or leather mushroom corals show undulations of the top plate as they get bigger, not just bumps in the same shape. Australian toadstool pictures shows a similar shape, but there they appear to be more tentacles with...
Day 3 At the first day I became a NJRC member, I won this mushroom in the raffle. I believe it is called a Devil's hand. When I put it in the fish tank, it looked like a triceratops head, ready to charge.
And while I see lots of bumps suggesting it could have many tenticles, only a few come out.
Day 2 is the common Acan, now with a new scientific name. I started my tank to be a fish and then a fish and soft coral reef. That changed when Ultimate Corals gave me a single polyp of this acan. So the pictures on this day show 2 progressions. The first is that the acan first had 2 buds by...
Njtigers24 aquariums requested someone follow up on his request to continue the daily photos by month. I will do this but with 2 pictures a day to try and tell a story. The fist set is a Yuma Ricordea. The first picture is shortly after I placed it in the yank. It has since moved to a crevasse...
Thank you Tom and Kristen for holding this meeting.
Here is the tank.
And here are some of the people.
Note Marcus starting his matrix drop and Max getting ready to dominate in the frag raffle.
