Interesting re purpose. I want something that seals a little better. I have found a good 7 gallon bucket but they want 20 dollars shipping when the bucket is 12 bucks :( I am also thinking about building an acyclic diy - anyone go this route?

This is what I'm up against.. it's like a turf that grows on top if substrate doesn't go away in darkness and doesn't disappear when you stir it. Tonight when I did my water change I was able to scoop up a huge chunk spanning across the substrate. I am 70% sure it's turf algae
