Anything outside of your tank should be glued or clamped in some fashion. You wouldn't want to wake up one morning to see an empty tank.

The Teflon glop you are speaking of is the best. It is not a glue, just Teflon tape in a liquid form. It fills the gaps better and the threads screw on easier.

I'm certified but never bought a recovery unit. If the unit leaked freon, the leak would have to be found first and fixed. The reason no one will fix it is because it only cost a few more bucks for a new one.

They sell a tap to tap onto the copper line. I don't know if you'll be able to get the freon tho. I've done quite a few.

Thanks people. I replaced the fuse. Everythings working now. I suggest anyone with AC's, to keep an extra fuse on hand. They only sell them at electronic stores. It's a 5x22 mm 15amp 120volt. I picked up a few extras if anyone wants one.
