Tomorrow is likely going to be Clownfish fry day. The eggs are really silvery tonight and if I didn't know better they would hatch today - but it has only been 7 days at 80 degree temp. In the past they've been hatching around day 8 - which should be tomorrow night.
I expect very high losses -...
yes. However I am pretty lax with it - that is, all I am doing is making sure the fish is capable of eating and appears fine.
However I wouldn't QT if I bought my fish from Dr. Jim (sponsor who pre-QTs all fish).
In my experience - yes.
Also if it is significant - it can cause an uptick in temp.
That stated there are some really neat tanks that just use solar to light the reef!
I have no idea. I looked at it once and subsequently the display went haywire (to the point that the lights would not come on properly the next day). After a day or two of this - I stopped messing with it and left it on "auto".
Interesting results on the corals. My monitpora caps stunted...
your tank is nice. I'm impressed with the growth on your corals using the LEDs. Clearly the US made fixture appears to be better. Did you tinker with the lighting - it appears whiter. I recall the other pics of the LEDs (mine included) all tend to be bluer (and not necessarily nicer).
I'm using jazzsam's old G series 250W equivalent LED set up he purchased from AqOb. I do not mess with the thing. I just keep it on the auto-settings. I've started hunting for spare parts as a "just in case".
I'm not 100% sure but I was wondering if the lighting (longer period during the...
Thanks Bax!
Rots culture:
I don't think i have enough for this batch - so it may be a lost cause. I picked up some ammonia badges and have cleaned out the 10G that will serve as the larvae tank. The BBS hatching station is also getting set up - but I don't know if it's worth it if I don't...
I use the MRC MR1 with an extension riser.
I would probably pass on it if I were given the same chance again - though $125 is a very good price. My thoughts are it is finicky - a hand in the water will cause the skimming to stop.
One thing I really like about the MRC is the waste collector...
as long as you guys don't blow up giant helium balloons and claim a 6 yr old is in there - i'm sure the cops won't bother.... :o
of course now the FAA is filing charges...d'oh.

Scott - i've sent you a pm. If you still cannot get it to work - send me an email and I will post them up for you.
Then we can analyze the plumbing while you figure out the photobucket.com stuff...lol.
you need 5 posts.
Sorry if I laugh - but instead of trying 12 times - you should have just posted out loud in the forums.
Try it now - should work fine.
ammonia/nitrites should be kept in check by your LR.
Nitrates are taken out by dilution/water changes.
Carbon is ideal for keeping the water "clear".
My 2cents would be to use GAC (carbon).
On my way to visit family in the city - we stopped by here last month. I mentioned this in my tale but forgot to post here.
Unfortunately they were right in the middle of construction and they were cutting this tank horizonally in half (using sandee's pic) to make a shallow frag tank:
I...
I forgot to post that I swung by here 2 saturdays ago and my daughter and I enjoyed the place. It's still in "new-store" mode/new tanks etc but so far I liked it a lot. My daughter could not stop talking about the bearded dragon and the beautiful parrots being weaned.
I picked up a few conches...
Anthony is up in north jersey I believe - and I hate to say it but the only good game up there would be AF. So if you have to go - best to go when they have a sale. Is this the store you went to for your FW stuff Anthony?
