your tank is nice. I'm impressed with the growth on your corals using the LEDs. Clearly the US made fixture appears to be better. Did you tinker with the lighting - it appears whiter. I recall the other pics of the LEDs (mine included) all tend to be bluer (and not necessarily nicer).

I use the MRC MR1 with an extension riser. I would probably pass on it if I were given the same chance again - though $125 is a very good price. My thoughts are it is finicky - a hand in the water will cause the skimming to stop. One thing I really like about the MRC is the waste collector...

ammonia/nitrites should be kept in check by your LR. Nitrates are taken out by dilution/water changes. Carbon is ideal for keeping the water "clear". My 2cents would be to use GAC (carbon).
