You are too kind. Let me think about it Sunny....not sure if I need to see it or not. I just looked up the numbers on these: PP15 900GPH to 3400GPH [Recommended for 60 to 150 gallons] PP8 800GPH to 2000GPH [Recommended for 30 to 60 gallons] PP4 530GPH to 1000GPH [Recommended...

Sunny, you weren't kidding.....this thing pushes some amount of water! Now I need to decide if I should get a PP4 or PP8.

    NIB Jebao Wavemaker Powerhead PP-15

I just purchased two of these to supplement two MP-40's. In trying one, I have it set to the lowest setting and that's more than enough. So I now want to sell the other one and pick up either a PP-8 or PP-4. Selling New In Box, never seen water, Jebao PP-15 Wavemaker for the same price I...

    Sunny's 350G build (was 150)

Put in a piece of white egg crate and see if it grows on that. My first thought is that the growth is living off the mold release agent used on the egg crate.

Thanks Juan, but I don't believe I'm leaking where the tubing meets the threaded 1/2 inch rod. If you look at the picture where I show the water in the tubing, you'll see two small zip ties securing the tubing to this threaded rod. I think the water was getting in by coming up the threads...

Well that didn't last long. Noticed high water in the sump again....that is, the first float switch isn't working again on the ATO. Now when I go to pull it off, the tube that is supposed to keep the top of the float switch dry has about a 1/2 inch of water in it!!! That's it...off...

    60g cube build

We should have a forum just for DOH! moments. I know I could easily add to it.....may times over. Glad to see the light has worked out (for the time being), but I'd also consider opening it back up and wiping/cleaning it with something like WD40. Otherwise the residual salt will cause for...

Biopellet Reactor - Who Would Have Known

Joe, I don't know....maybe bioload, quality of the pellets, fat bacteria, my Redfield is better than yours, are you also running GFO or cheato, who knows. When all was running well I had: 2 tangs (Yellow and Scopas) 2 pajama cardinals 1 Coral Beauty 1 Long Nose Butterfly 2 Clowns 1...

    Copper treated equipment

OK, here's the poop on copper. It really wouldn't stick to non reactive smooth surfaces. So things like glass or plastic, a wash in a mild acid (vinegar) will knock the copper right off. So glass or plexi tanks, glass heaters, plastic filters....all fine. I appreciate @HerbieK success...

Biopellet Reactor - Who Would Have Known

Joe, I've heard this happening with carbon, which is a relatively soft material, but never with biopellets. Biopellets are a hard plastic. If I stated I was going through pellets quickly, I apologize, because I believe my use is reasonable. The only thing I don't like is the cost....I think...

Want to get nitrates and phosphates down to levels where hair algae isn't growing on my cheato.

Biopellet Reactor - Who Would Have Known

No, not yet. I want to first get stability back into my tank. A couple more months and I'll be adding fish.

Biopellet Reactor - Who Would Have Known

As I mentioned above, I cleaned my biopellet reactor for the first time, and boy, was it clogged up. I thought I had a bad pump, but it was just schmutz stuck in the small ports within the reactor. This thing is swirling better than when I first set it up. I have the pump totally closed...

How much GPH for a 75 gallon mixed reef?

You will hear folks stating you need 10X volume for your return pump. However, that's not necessarily true. With some systems, 10X would be very noisy....and potentially too much flow, especially if it's a small sump. You'd be just fine down to 5 times DT volume, or even less. Either...

Interesting thought @njtiger24 aquariums . I actually have shrink tubing that would fit around the threads. However, what's unknown (to me) is whether or not it would act like telfon once the tubing protector is threaded on. If that was the cause, I'd go for it. But for now I'm going to...

So I've been playing with my float switches over the past couple days. I take them off....they work....I put them back in, they crap out....I take them off, they work....I think you get it. Did this three times, but I think I've discovered the reason. The top of these switches can't get...
