you either have to cook the rock or let it sit in the dark for an extended period of time. Cooking it will definitely get rid of the algae. Keeping it in the dark will most likely get rid of it. As for keeping it live. you can reseed the rock with some live sand. I've done it and never had any...
Believe it or not after all the crap with the sump it worked great, I didn't have any issues with it. I definitely have to kiddie proof the tank stand that's for sure. Pics will be posted tomorrow

it's definitely a hard hobby to leave. Technically i didn't leave i have a 40 breeder with all my corals and miscellaneous live items that i have. My house felt naked without a tank. I would love to go back to the 180-215 tank range again, but i have to wait for my son to be older.....for now i...
Hello fellow reefers,
Well my wife having a baby in September put a kabosh on my Oceanic 215. Loved that tank. With a newborn in the house and working full time I didn't have the time to devote to it and decided to sell it. I had decided to upgrade before we found out we were having a baby...
I agree with everyone. Definately Electric blue. Just know that they get pretty large for a hermit compared to the bluelegs and scarlet. Probably not the best choice if you have delicate coral in the tank. they will most likely crawl all over then and damage the coral.

Sorry to hear about you losing your fish. I can relate, sometimes things are going great and then bam, your almost at the beginning again. I agree with Jonathan, you should leave your tank fallow at least 8 weeks. I would do 12 weeks just to be sure it's all gone.
good luck

I used Spa flex PVC for all the plumbing on my 215 for the drains and returns. I used regular PVC cement and i have no issues. I would definately recommend it.

awesome, your tank looks great the way it currently is, but we all go thru stages and always change them around. The best part is just watching and enjoying. After all that's why we have them. me i'm just itching to add my corals but until i get new lights i have to suck it up. good luck

Yes i believe the "brute" brand of garbage cans are food grade. I would maybe check out their company website for more information. But wetwebmedia.com i think recommends this brand so do many other forums. this seems to be the choice for many reefers. I use 2 40G cans and i have never had a...
thanks, i think i'm going to get 2 or 3 more eventually. I woke up this morning and one of my clowns jumped out of the tank. I found him on the tile floor hard as a rock. My cats must have had a field day as he was covered in cat hair. I didn't think clownfish were jumpers but i guess in my case...
