I don't know if direct feeding unless it is required by the coral is necessary i.e suncorals and such. I think most corals get all their nutients thru the water column inadvertantly when you feed your fish and also thru lighting. Don't get me wrong feeding corals isn't a bad thing i think its...
It's 3/8" not 1/4" acrylic and 2 of the baffles go all the way to the top for support, i had the same concerns. At this point my sump builder is out of business (AFY). If there is an issue i'm screwed, but I dont anticipate one

I guess it all depends on the fish, larger fish would need a larger QT setup. Tang's IMO would get stressed out in a 10G especially a 4" one. I use a 40G breeder as my QT. I would recommend you go as big as you can afford.

I will probably be using some garf grunge, on the sump bottom for some added biodiversity and mainly i will be using Chaeto because it is easy to control and won't go sexual like most of the other macro algae.
I tested my water tonite and my Ammonia reading was 0. I will be adding fish either...
just be careful and really rinse the sand you gonna reuse really well. basically till the runoff water is clear. if you search there are procedures on how to do it
Good luck
Harry
it's your preference but I would use your existing sand just keep a few handlefulls to reseed the new snad bed and rinse and wash the rest of it. Sand tends to get expensive. I reused the sand from my 75 into my 215 and i have had no issues. you just have to have patience with the sand rinsing...
to me it looks like a rock flower anemone especially since it moved. It doesn't really look like a paly the tentacles look too thick. But until you can get a definate ID i would have it isolated
good luck.

thanks, yes the middle section will be a refugium. Hopefully by the end of the weekend i will have fish in the tank as long as all my parameters are 0

No worries on the hijack. I bought most of my rock from seatrademarine.com. He's in medford NJ. The rock on the right which looks white is Tonga fusion. it's awesome. If i had to do it all over again i would only use that type.
Harry
David,
The rock is on the glass bottom, i added the sand after the rock. Also there are plenty of spaces and caves for the fish to hide in. I will try and get some close up pics later to show more detail
thanks
Harry
Well after downsizing to a blueline 55HD, i re-did all the plumbing on my tank with no leaks so far. I added the rock and sand and will be adding fish next weekend after i am sure all the readings are zero. I decided to go with a 2 island design and left plenty of room for fish to move around...
Moderate indirect flow is what i had it under. Mine grew like a weed. Xenia is hit or miss. Some people can grow it others can't Mine didn't care if the water was dirty or spotless. Some people actually use it for nutrient export because it does filter the water. Be careful if it decides to die...
Nassaruis snails do a great job of cleaning detritus within the sand. I don't think in a reef tank that your sand will stay white, in nature it doesn't, it's only natural to change colors due to the accumulation of detritus and debris.
