    Fish Food Recipe

hey just as a neat little tip. If you use eggrcrate instead of ice cube trays as a mold to freeze your home made food in it will come out in great little cubes for perfect individual feeding squares just like the store bought cubes. hope this helps Harry

    Overflow placement

In my opinion the water should flow into the box about 1" from the top of the tank. maybe some other reefers will chime in for more opinions Harry

Start of my Oceanic 215 build

Start of my Oceanic 215 build

And the saga continues. Well i finally finished plumbing my tank and i filled it with water, no major leaks to report which is good. One of the return lines has a small leak that i think is at the bulkhead. I think tightening the seal more should do it i hope. if not i will have to redo the...

Who has the best tank deals?

It depends, you have to shop around. A lot of times you can get a great tank from someone getting out of the Hobby. A fellow hobbyist will probably be your best bet for a killer deal. Good luck with whatever you decide Harry

    Southdown sand

Actually she probably wouldn't mind a 100 or so people over, she's a pretty good sport and humors me quite a bit with this hobby that has now become an obsession. ;D Harry

    Southdown sand

The southdown is fairly small grained sand but if you mixed it with a different size you should be good. I use Fiji Pink and it's about as small as the southdown and i have no issues with it blowing all over the place. But back to the vinegar test, If you take a little of the sand and pour...

    Thanks Again Aquatic Obsessions

I was there when they came in also. they looked really really nice. If i didnt have 3 clowns already, i would have bought them. And FYI most places sell Onyx pairs for 150+ and i've seen them as high as 250+. so if they are onyx you just made out like a bandit. I paid 50.00 for my 2 oscillaris...

Little White Bugs on my rock

    Southdown sand

    skimmers

MRC in my opinion is one of the best skimmers out there. If i was to run an external skimmer that would be my choice Harry

Need a little advise on skimmers - Berlin 250.

It all depends on the bioload. If your tanks not over loaded chances are it won't be pulling out too many dissolved organics. try it out and if you don't like it get a new one. Harry

    Southdown sand

You are probably right about the collusion. but I think all the sand they carry now isn't aragonite based. many reefers have done the vinegar test on all the brands and none fizzle like aragonite should. If i'm wrong someone please correct me. Harry Harry

Start of my Oceanic 215 build

Here is a pic of the top of my sump where the drains will flow into the skimmer chamber before i cut out the filter sock holder so the sump can fit. As you can see the piece that hold the bulkhead goes across the filter chamber 14" and it about 5" wide. it is such a bad design, the bulkhead...

Start of my Oceanic 215 build

I think i'm gonna do the gate valve mod, i'm gonna run it like it is for now and see how that works. I've been lazy in posting the pics. I'll get to it by tomorrow nite. And i should be all done on saturday and will be doing a water test and hope nothing leaks Harry

    oceanic 175 reef ready bow

Nice setup. looking forward to progress updates. I have 3 percs also, i've had them for a year and a half with no issues, it's not that rare really. I read in a book once that in the wild they coexist in 3's but i could be wrong. Harry
