sorry, by natural splits i meant babies. also color is always a lottery, i find that red usually comes in more as they grow bigger but its always a crap shoot, i dont think cutting them will elicit any color inducing effects.
i have tried cutting them back in the day and it melted.
jawbreakers do not like getting fragged. you're better off waiting for natural splits. they usually leave fragments of their feet pretty frequently, at least in my experience. color is always going to be lottery.
Hey everyone, it’s been a while since my last update, so I wanted to share a quick progress report. It’s coming up on a year since setting up this tank, and it’s definitely been a journey full of ups and downs, instability, the dreaded ugliest and a few losses along the way. However, since...
VitC acts like a carbon source so it will help with bacterial population, lower n&p and may help with coral health. Ive used it in the past and i didnt really see any improvements in overall coral health. However, someone people back in the day did, it was a popular item to dose at one point not...
Another suggestion—if removing the fish is difficult, consider using a breeder box to isolate a coral and observe its condition.
You can try something like this: Amazon.com
Make sure to place the breeder box slightly below the waterline, where flow is naturally forced in from the top, but the...
I’d suggest grabbing an inexpensive LPS coral to test how it does, and temporarily moving the coral beauty and filefish out of the tank. Observe both the new coral and your struggling toadstool to see if there’s any improvement. If your parameters are within range according to your ICP test, and...
I was actually in a similar boat but reverse lol, they were out of stock at Biota but was able to find them everywhere locally when i was looking. I was adamant with going with Biota though since i wanted to make sure it was the correct species and i also did not want to QT as Biota has a...
i wish i had space for a separate tank, i would definitely do a soft/nem tank. there are some softies that look incredible. that xenia is definitely eye catching, hopefully it looks like it does when you get it!
If you don’t mind ordering online, I recommend checking out Biota. I got my filefish from them to ensure I was getting the correct species—not something that looks similar but doesn’t touch aiptasia.
Be prepared, though—the fish will arrive tiny. I kept mine in a separate breeder box for nearly...
I understand that, and this isn’t the first time I’ve had issues with shipping in general. I also get that UPS isn’t always the most careful. However, most vendors I’ve ordered from take extra precautions, like bagging the specimen or container cup as an additional barrier. This helps prevent...
Unfortunately did not, however, this is within NJ which i have never had issues with and also that is why i advised picking up vs shipping in my initial post. I am trying to work this out with him via email at the moment, but will see. definitely not a vendor i will be going back to in the...
