No aptasia here either, but I always wondered if you could suck them through an acrylic tube or straw with a shop vac. Haven't had the opportunity to give it a go.
Glass has to be super clean, and you can make wood jigs to hold the panels square, use a tiny needle for spacing. The king of diy on YouTube has done a bunch of tutorials on it. And this dude built a glass tank with pretty clear instructions if I remember correctly
There should be 1 inch bulk heads in there to tie into the spa flex. The hole is for the bulk head, that's why it's a little bigger. My trigger sump was setup like this. Honestly however you can secure it that you're Happy with, I'd just do that.
Skip the skimmer, you're tanks still small enough to be fine without it. On that size tank it'd be more for co2 drive off which will probably be better with the over sized skimmer like the one you got. So skip it or keep what you got is my vote. Also the aquavitro skimmers seem cool
