To help with drips and such in front of the tank you can put a throw rug in front of the tank. They even have ones with a rubber back so it doesn't slide and will help stop any water from leaching through the rug.
If it is true hardwood and not laminate, you could also put and extra coat or two...
Yes getting that thing down into the basement is going to pose a bit of a challenge. It will need to get slid down the steps and then stood up on end to get thru the doorway.
The real challenge will be getting into position with the existing tank still in place.
Well , I just bought a used 265 gallon tank yesterday. I am going to try and have it up and running by Nov. meeting here.
