I have had this tang for 5 years and it was about the size of a half dollar when I got him. Unfortunately I had to move him from my 75 down to a 40 gallon breeder tank about 6 months ago and the stress has caused him to developed HLLE. You can see it in the pic around the head and lateral line...
That's about how long it took me in the 70's for my firearms I-D card. Maybe that's the delay. I know all the info has to be run through the State and Feds. Once you have the ID card it has been my experience that any subsequent handgun permit turn around time is alot quicker than it used to be...
As far as time to get a permit, it partially depends upon which municipality you live in and how fast they process them. For the most part though, the time has has been reduced quite a bit since the old days. It took me a week in Hamilton Twp. but I already have a firearms ID card. Not entirely...

Welcome Cap. Im new also. Definately pays to join whether you can make meetings or not. You get acess to the member forums which include chat sessions and the group buys are excellent and you save alot. Wish I had found this site years ago. Plus, you get a nice membership card :)

and the support setup was an amazing experience. And though,as a new guy, the feeling of walking into a meeting like that cold is a little intimidating, everyone made me and I'm sure others feel...
