Good Aquariums to visit in NJ,NY,PA area

Atlantis will take longer to get to than you have wanted to travel, however it is well worth the trip. We are very fortunate to live close enough to this aquarium. The 20,000 gallon reef tank is arguably one of the best in the world. Then there's the anemone tank, the shark tank, penguins, etc...

Treating Red Bugs and Flatworms during tank switch

Interceptor for the red bugs and Salifet FWE for the flatworms. Treat them both at the same time not two weeks apart.

    Calcium Reactor and PH reading

Google Melev and effluent cup. You will see how he first had it drip into a plastic cup, and then improve to an acrylic effluent box/probe holder. I'm using one of these that he made and I like it.

In Need of Emotional and Mental Support Right Now

Thanks for the link. My daughter is three and she has been having a lot of fevers. FIrst they tested for Lyme's, and then they discovered her glucose level was 44. The Internet can be a curse or a blessing. I looked up low glucose and came up with a number of 54. She keeps complaining her leg...

    breeding your own copepods

I used to have a culture tank. I bought my first culture from Oceanpods.com. I used a 10 gallon tank but inserted two Poland Spring bottles in the tank. The rationale behind this is if one culture crashed the other one wouldn't be affected. I partially filled the 10 gallon so only one heater was...

Do you leave nori in the tank? Fatten it up and maybe it will lose interest in your corals.

More frags from the 180? How many gallons is the tank? I didn't see that on the first page. That blue tang has some big eyes.

    After the crash

I didn't have any fish in the tank so I gave it a cautious three hour acclimation and then dropped it in the tank. I was expecting a much smaller fish but this one was full size and nice and fat. Fins and color were perfect without any imperfections. I also bought a yellow tang for $30 and it...

    Metal halide--regular fixture vs retrofit

What size is the door on the canopy? See if you can remove the door and place something on top. Here's a pic of my Hamilton Protostar fixture sitting on top of my AGA 90 gallon canopy. The canopy looks nice but is awkward to work around. It makes the tank deeper unless you take it off when...

    SMCooler (Stan "THE man")

Thanks. I'm fulfilled. The thread started as a teaser but delivered by the end. It's fitting because you post sales without pictures and I haven't seen one complaint. The hobby, and NJ Reefers, are lucky to have you Stan. I was quite impressed with your donation to HVRK of NY as well this past...

    SMCooler (Stan "THE man")

I gotta laugh because SM Cooler is like folklore IMO. I hardly ever see pictures but there are lots of rave reviews. Where are the pictures? What I really want is a picture of his amazing tank. I guess I have to make the trip for this reward. Any pictures for us living room computer voyeurs Stan?

damn hair algea.... what likes to eat it?

This will work the quickest IMO. You can also try the large turbos. The will consume it but they will also bulldoze your corals. Identifying the source is really the issue though.
