I used to rinse my fish food as well. For about a month I was doing it religiously. Then i realized that the amount phosphate may not even be that significant. Besides, I do a water change every 2 weeks. For those who break up their fish food in the tank, I only hope that they have clean hands :-)

Did you have any luck getting the fish out? If not, try this. It may be unconventional but it worked for me in the past. Wait till the light go out in the tank and wait till the fish goes to sleep. Once asleep you may be able to catch it while it is in a trans like state. Good luck!

I never thought about freezing a bottle. I will see if I can do that during hot weather. I am working on buying chiller. Thanks so much for the input. Do you know anyone willing to trade their chiller for t5 lights? :-)

I agree, let the sand settle. I would check your pumps too. I don't think that the sand is good for the pumps. Possible damage. Daily or every other day checking to ensure that the pumps is not clogged with debries is a good idea.

A friend of mine has a 120 gallon tank. He also use two Vortech 40W. I noticed that he that he did not put the vortech straight facing each other. He had them staggered. This seems to help. Try to see if this works for you as well.

No, I actually do not have a sump. I have the red sea max 250, which is a complete system. It came with 6 fans, but even with that it still runs hot. I have it in my living room and not the basement, which is probably why the temperature fluctuates.

increase nitrates may be due to over feeding. Try to cut that down too. Also, many had mentioned to me that tangs need a lot of room to swim and require larger volume tanks. I am no expert, so you might want to look into the size of your tank and the # of tangs you have. If you have too small...

My tank temperature fluctuates but it sometimes goes up to 83.7. I try to keep it from reaching 84. I am working on getting a chiller. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

The auto top off is a cheap investment. I suggest you get this since it will help keep the salinity and pH level steady. You can always dose using liquid additives. I myself don't want to have to get C02 tank, etc. It will clutter the living room, which is where my tank is at. I would worry...

I think the powder blue tanks are beautiful, but they can be ich magnets IMHO. I have a linear blenny. I find these fish as having such a character about them. You might want to think about having one in your tank.

How is the aptasia problem at this time. I had the same issue and got a couple or large peppermint shrimp. In about a few weeks, I noticed that most of the aptasia disappeared. I still have a few here and there, but not much.
