Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
The cycling your rocks would have helped get the phosphates and other nasty stuff out. Yes they have the bacteria but they are still probably leaching the other stuff into your tank, hence the hair algae.
Generally people will "cycle" rocks before they use them. Clean them up and then run them in a container with salt water and add a bacterial source to get them cycled and loaded up with beneficial bacteria. It can also help get the phosphates and other nasty stuff out of the rocks (this can...
Honestly with that sort of infestation, I would either recycle the rocks or replace them. The rocks could be leeching the phosphates, so no matter what you do it will come back. Its a small tank and would be pretty easy to replace, we had to do it on a 205 and it was a process to say the least.
We typically always keep mushrooms low, but for some reasons these jawbreakers do better in the top half of our tank. We have had them up that high for years now an they continue to do well. We also have one basically on our sand bed and it is also doing amazing, so I guess it comes down to a...
Tank is coming along nicely, corals are all adjusting along after the move and coloring up. Canopy and lights are ordered, we will see when they get here. Shrooms look great and are adjusting well.
We also got a Plant Aquariums tank as well and have been very happy with it in the short amount of time we have had it. We are also going with 3 radions over a 6 foot tank.
In setting up the new tank we orderd two much sand so we have two twenty pound bags of fiji pink live sand still in the bags. Let me know if you want 1 bag or both.
I have not made it up to that one, we always seem to be doing something that day, but have always heard good things. One of these days we will get up there.
Logistically Saturday was a mess, they had no idea how to work a line or a crowd. We were there with the baby and so where a ton of other people with small children and the line was all outside and it was hot. They didn't prescan anyone before the show started and it looked like they had maybe...
Yup, we had the rocks we wanted to keep in our frag tank and recirc tank and the new rocks we got a brute trash can and threw them in there with some water a powerhead and some Dr. Tims to cycle them. We also added a few pieces of rock from our current system to seed them too.
First picture is of the removed tank, then the install process and the filling process. We have the aquascaping done as well, I will get those pics up soon. Again, the light is temporary but it will be just fine for now.
