    Nano Stocking Decisions

Thanks. Picked it up at Aquatic Visions on Rt 10.

    Jeff's 20G High

Finally some pics to share as the thread is pointless without them. Colors show as more blue than they really are on some of these pics, but I'd say the acan pics are pretty close to what they really look like

    Nano Stocking Decisions

Thanks for the feedback guys. Originally I really wanted a dwarf angel but removed them from my list as I figured they would be too big for a 20G. On the way home from work last night I stopped by the LFS and they had a 1-1.5" african flameback that looked great, so I took the chance and picked...

    Nano Stocking Decisions

I like the dwarf angel idea, as they are really active. Just not sure how much trust to place in those guys with LPS in the tank. Previously have done this with no issue (african flameback in a 40g: the occassional nip, but no damage to the coral), just wondering if attempting this in a 20 poses...

    Nano Stocking Decisions

Begining to stock my 20G tank and could use some ideas/guidance. Obviously can't have too much so want to make sure I get it right. Thinking about 1- 2 main fish, w/ 1-3 small gobies. Probably prefer something that is active and perhaps not the typical clowns or bangaii cardinals. Leading...

Don't worry babe, The tank won't have any overflows so it can't flood.

Good new is that there appears to be an easy fix. Apparently differnt switching mechanisms are used in different sockets. The socket I was using can remain open with certain types of devices, depending on the power draw. Sounds like this should be an non-issue if I plug into a different...

Don't worry babe, The tank won't have any overflows so it can't flood.

Yeah I was thinking of something like this. Original thoughts were to have the kill switch on the tank, but the low level indicator in the top-off container sounds good too. Didn't set this up due to limited time and fact that I wasn't sure how to run multiple switchs to control a single outlet...

Don't worry babe, The tank won't have any overflows so it can't flood.

Reluctantly gave up my last tanks during a series of moves, and although my wife (GF at the time) enjoyed them, she hated all the crap that went wrong. Like the time we were headed out on a date, but stopped by my apartment to pick some things up only to find the floor flooded and ended up...

    ZooMed Mag Clips

Response from Zoomed customer service: Thank you for contacting us. I am sorry to hear that you have experienced trouble. This is the second time I have heard of this happening. It seems to only be with the Visitherm Stealth heater which uses a material for the switching mechanism which is...

    ZooMed Mag Clips

Thats what i figured. Perhaps if I moved them further down on the heater then it wouldn't cause this interference. I just found it a bit scary. Luckily it stuck in the off position (I'd rather deal with a cold tank than a boiling one) and I also dont' have livestock at this point, so it wasn't...

    T5 Wiring and Heat

Trying to figure how to rig a fan to cool the lights. I bought the azoo fans, but the dumb things won't fit over the rim of the tank. Looks like they were designed for frameless tanks. Would have been nice to know that when I bought them, but I think I can rig them to work somehow despite this...

    T5 Wiring and Heat

The wiring for my T5 fixtures is currently resting on my reflectors. Wondering if this is ok or it is possible that the reflectors could get hot enough to cause the insulation on the wires to melt?

    Jeff's 20G High

Well, Finally back into the hobby after a 3 year break due to moving a couple of times. Setup: Tank: - 20G high w/ 700gph overflow (moded - and may further mod to skim surface) Filtration: - 15lbs live rock (thinking I will probably add some more) - BRS single chamber reactor with GAC and...

    ZooMed Mag Clips

Anyone else with some experience on these? Bought some thinking they would be a nice and easy way to attach some equipment like heaters and tubing. Suction cups always seem to fail and are a pain to reattach or move. Got my controller setup (Reefkeeper Lite) and it is running my heater, which...

    40 Breeder?

On mine I was running a 250W SE MH w/ 2 VHO actinics. For plumbing I had a lifereef overflow leading to a 20G tank with a euroreef skimmer and two fluidized reactors, one for carbon, one for GFO. Return was driven by a panworld pump (major overkill) through a SCWD. I also had several maxijets...

    Lighting decisions

The tank and equip has been ordered. Will be picking up the tank on tues and the next order of business will be building the canopy to house the lights. I ended up going with 4x24W T5 from reefgeek. My next question is, how far from the surface of the water should I be mounting these guys...

    Lighting decisions

good to hear. On my 40G breeder (sold 3 years ago) I was running a 250MH and 2 VHO actinics. Worked great for SPS/clams, but think it cause a purple favia I had to really lose its color, hence my not wanting to go with too much light. Think the non-overdriven would be nice too, as from my...

    Lighting decisions

Looking for some guidance here. Will be starting a 20H nano at some point in the near future and wanted to begin planning my equipment. I think everything is pretty straight-foward on this with the one possible exception being lighting options. I'm pretty much committed to going T5 (4 x 24")...

    New Member and WTB

Hi all.  New board member here. Had kept a reef tank for a couple of years and then had to sell it all due to a move.  After a 3 year break I'm finally looking to get back into the hobby and will probably start off with a nano for the purpose of keeping equip (and tank size) to a minimum as my...
