Thanks! Been reading some of the forums and it sounds like Dinos or Cyanos. Not sure if that is accurate but some of the suggestions are to turn the light off for a few days.
Been a little while since my last update.
1) Skimmer finally started operating correctly over the last few days
2) Added two Clownfish and two snails
3) Getting some brown slime algae (i think). Photos attached and looking for feedback on how to mitigate this. Should I add a Cucumber/crabs...
ok, i need some Skimmer help and it sort if along the same lines as above.
I have a Bubble Magus NAC3.5 Protein Skimmer that has been running for about 10 days and it showing now signs of calming down or "breaking in". I cant seem to get the bubbles in the cup to calm down, they constantly...
I thought about that and @DangerDave mentioned that as well. My thought process is that I wanted to break it in before i got the fish so I don't have to worry about the micro bubbles. At this point, I have had it running for 1 week so do I turn it off or just let it keep running to break it in?
That is great advice! in fact, just placed the order for it. lol.
Next task is trying to get my skimmer dialed in. Its nothing but micro bubbles in the tank and the skimmer wont calm down...i think it just needs more time.

Here is my semi-complete water mixing station using two 35g containers from Tractor Supply. Top is fresh RO water feeding into the bottom salt water tank. I still need to add a mixing pump to the salt tank. Adding an inline pump or just a pump into the salt containers are two options. Open to...
Documenting my tank cycle journey over 5 days, Day 3 was the worst and it looks to be clearing up at this point! I'll keep posting as tank conditions keep changing.
Ok, took a bit longer than I expected. After filling the tank last week I realized the main bulkhead in the overflow had a crack and was leaking water...its amazing how impossible it is to find a 1.5in Bulkhead locally so after ordering online and being delayed, I finally was able to get the...
Finally was able to get my rockwork done! lots of tunnels and different areas for fish/coral. Let me know what you think.
Also got about 1/2 of my water setup done...need to get a 2nd 35g tank for RO water
All Plumbing is complete so next step is filling the tank which should be done this...
Just a few updates.
1) Installed Skimmer - perfect fit!
2) Bought about 50lb of rock from a local guy that took down his tank 9 months ago when he moved to the area. Really dirty so I have it sitting in a bleach mix now. Going to let that dry off for a day or so and then soak in a light...
Can anyone recommend a good heater? I purchased the Eheim Jager TruTemp 100 Watt and did not realize it was 12.5in long and the sump I have only has a max length of 9.8in. Any suggestions?
Yes, one of the main reasons I went with the IceCap 15 SUMP is that it has a built in chamber for ATO. Still deciding on which ATO to purchase...Dont want to dive into a Full Neptune controller just yet.
As for the Kessil 160, I wrestled with the notion of getting a 360 but I would have had to...
