Opinions on drilling a 27g established tank?

So I'm considering the idea of adding a little 10-15 gallon sump. My idea was to take 50% of the water out and drill. What are your opinions on this? I know it can be very risky, which is why I haven't pulled the trigger.

At 27 gal, why not do a temporary transfer. Not worth the risk.IMO

I have so many corals and a lot of them are glued to rocks, in addition I have a good amount of livestock in general. I feel like a transfer would be a HUGE pita and stress the fish out.

When drilling, all the fine glass particulate is going in your tank once you start to cut through the glass wall. Guaranteed disaster! Take the time, do the transfer.
