Did this today and can't be bothered to take pics.
So, I'll describe.
Got get a stick, like a marshmallow roasting stick or a kebeb stick, the wood kind, oft pointy at one end.
Hack the pointy end of the stick, lightly, with a knife, in all different directions.
Try to make the last 1" of it look like one of those spiky plastic things you get hair out of a drain with.
Stick said tool into tank, put the tip against hair algae.
Spin baby, spin! Like a fork spinning up spaghetti.
It's remarkably effective for clearing tons of algae off the rocks.
 
I like Dangerdave's idea, but most chopsticks are made from bamboo and they float in the water. Wrap enough of them on that python and it will float lol.
