Does anyone have a solaris I5
Im thinking about getting one.

i saw a solaris, (not sure which model" in action, it was quite possible the coolest thing ever. (as far as fish tank lights go..)

What is the I5? I've seen a couple solaris fixtures, but wouldn't know one model from another...

The I5 is the newest model. It is 2.5 times brighter than the g series. It is now assembled in the US.
I spoke to them yesterday asking about parts and service. It comes with 2 years coverage after that if an led goes out the strip of 5 is $50. To replace it is 2 screws and a plug.

I'm using sam's old 48" G series (made in China). I don't have enough mileage to give you any feedback. I've read all the horror stories about the G but for now have been pleased with it's performance (no corals in my tank yet - still too new). There is another maker of LEDs based in the USa - I think they are called aqua illuminations.

At one point I was also looking for LED fixtures and came across LumenAqua High Power LED Aquarium Light. I was never able to find out if it could be use to support a reef tank, but its a very interesting fixture.
