Spikes 60 gallon frag tank

So we are finally getting around to setting up our second tank to our system/ fish room .

The first being our 90 gallon that is closing in on being up for 6 months now. One of these days I should really write up that build just for chits and giggles, but I have to dig up the photos to really document it well. Here is a current pic of that tank for reference .

This new tank is a 60 gallon frag tank , that will be on it's own separate system from my main display tank / sump system. This will be primararly for grow out . With the 180 coming online next in our system we will be needing a bunch more corals lol.

I scored this tank thru Facebook marketplace from a divorce sale shortly after I set the 90 up, his pain was my gain. I picked the tank up for $100 which was already great in my opinion , but also included with it was a 20 gallon tank that I moved along , and around 30 lbs of rock. It also included all the plumbing for the durso overflow and return side loc line fittings. Pic the day I picked it up before a good cleaning

A large rack stand was built in my basement fishroom to hold the frag tank @ eye level up above the 40 gallon breeder sump after building the stand it received a good coat of black high gloss paint for protection. I have added some more trimnpeices that will recieve a contrasting color paint coat soon . I also added some vinyl sheet on the back wall to keep moisture issues down on the sheetrocked wall.

The plan was to also include some qt tanks on this stand so it was built over sized .its still a bit of a mess , but you get the idea .tank has received a nice razor blade scraping and a soak . Still needs a bit more but there's time for that later.

I am cramming a ton of stuff in a really small area in my fish room. Space is really limited down here . This used to be part of my fishing rod building area , but has now been repurposed , so it's a tight fit but I believe I am making it work to the best of my ability. Edwin ecam had stopped by and he can tell you I got a lot going on down there , I am kinda crazy lol and may need help.

Looks good. I am building a small fish room at this time so I will follow for advise.

We just now started gluing the baffles into the 40 gallon breeder sump. I already drilled this for a 1" bulkhead that will act as a emergency overflow for the sump , not ever expected to be needed but more as a redundancy. Sump baffles are an acrylic Ebay kit from a seller in Florida. Nice parts and easy seller to work with. He also supplied me with some other parts for my main systems sump i am designing.

Update on progress.

Sump is all glued up and has been filled and tested, all is good so ok to move forward there.

Plumbing is almost all in place need a few more fittings that I will go grab today and should be good to go.

Frag tank is currently filled to under the weir and circulating water at the moment . Heater is in place and a power head is moving water now. I plan to button up plumbing shortly and cut in more water until the sump fills to capaciry. Plan to run without a light for a short while while cycling until I can find one then I can start stocking this thing and letting some colonies grow. 20200413_175444.jpg20200404_115607.jpg20200404_115557.jpg20200404_115550.jpg20200404_115525.jpg20200404_115529.jpg20200413_164204.jpg

Light arrived today and I managed to have parts around from another planned project I was able to rob for now to get the light hung and up and running. Used some 20 x 20 rail and some 3/8" threaded rod to create the hanging rail system then mounted the HMS mount to the rail with a speednut insert and hardware. Pretty clean set up on the cheap and easily adjusted for height differences if I want to move it up or down .
