    Free Corals (Lake Hopatcong 07849)

My 72 gallon reef tank MUST GO DOWN tomorrow. I have 7-8 corals left that need homes. Free to whomever comes and gets them. (see my previous post on breaking down my 72 for pictures) Their a little hairy due to poor tank maintenance, but some of them actually seem to have thrived under poor...

Breaking down a 72 gallon tank

I don't know if I have any fish left in there. Was a small firefish and a little candy cane gobie. Even if their still there, there's no way to catch them until I pull out all that rock. On the day I take it down, I guess I'll pull out anything living (fish, snails, crabs), put them in a bucket...

Breaking down a 72 gallon tank

Right now, you and I are working with about the same info. That picture. I haven't seen the tank in person since Christmas. It was grown on a 2-2 1/2 inch ceramic disc that has been glued to a small rock. You could always pop it loose from the rock and take a brush to the sides of the disc.

Breaking down a 72 gallon tank

Sorry, I'm out of practice at this. I'm living in the small town of Waco, Texas now. (my location is 15 minutes from anybody else, lol) My house is in the Lake Hopatcong area of Northwest Jersey, it's 10 minutes south of Sparta on Route 15. 07849 area code.

Breaking down a 72 gallon tank

I had to leave the state suddenly last June to take a job, leaving behind my poor wife to take care of the reef tank. As you can guess, I have a hair farm now, but there are still some nice animals I need to find a home for IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS, as the house has finally sold. HALLELUJAH. I'll...

    Moving

So, after having been unemployed for the last 7 months, I've accepted a job in Texas. We're loading up lock, stock and barrel and heading south. I'm trying to figure out what the heck to do with the reef tank. Sell off my stock and start over down there? Load up the animals into coolers with...

55 Gallon Tank and Stand (Lake Hopatcong)

I have an old 55 gallon tank and stand I need to get rid of. Too many tanks, no more room. Tank is fine, was in continuous service up until last year. The stand doesn't "exactly" fit the tank, but it's worked fine for me for many years. Lights just a plain old fluorescent. $25 Buyer must take...

Ever feel like giving up before it's even up and running?

I just recently finished setting up a new 72 bowfront with a sump, after having had a 40 gallon free standing tank. If I had know just HOW MUCH work it was going to be to get this thing up and running - I'd probably not have done it. Now that it is, my wife and I both love it. It's beautiful...

    Hermit crabs are stupid?

I've been trying to entice my Mandarin Goby to eat with some fish roe. I put a glass dish in the tank and then drop the eggs into the dish with a baster. They sink and pretty much stay put until he eats them, or at least that was the plan. For the last 3 days, I've come back into the room only...

    180 acrylic on Craigslist

This might make one sweet deal for somebody who had the room to house it (and a need for it). I just don't have a place for it. http://newjersey.craigslist.org/for/1080322916.html

    Mistreated live rock

Sounds to me like you just cooked your rock....for a loooong time. Ain't no algae on those rocks. :D If that rock has been sitting submerged in water for 2 years and you opened the lid and you have clear water and no odor? I'd say it's extremely unlikely there's anything left on the rock to...

    For Halloween addicts only

I know there a few club members like me heavily into Halloween. For those of you also afflicted: Next month, April 10 & 11, is the Eastern Haunters Convention at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia, PA. There are going to be vendor booths and seminars. Even a costume ball for...

    Profiting off the uninformed

I was in Petsmart last night and saw a lady buying the stuff to keep a Beta. The salesgirl led her to the fishbowls and there on the shelf right next to them was...bottled water for your fish. Marked Beta H20, it was a one quart bottle of "specially" conditioned water for a mere $3.99. If the...

Those anyone know anyone whom has this display

I've rarely seen anyone doing it this way, probably because of space considerations. Most of the systems I've seen going for the 3 sided effect have a very narrow cabinet space on the back side 4-5 inches that just covers piping/overflows, so you end up with the canopy/back wall/stand all...

Pacquiao vs Hatton MAY 2, 2009

I think it will be a very good fight. The styles of these fighters should match up very well. I think it's going to one long brawl, probably with knockdowns on both sides. There shouldn't be much dancing or holding going on. Hatton's a good fighter. His last fight against Malignaggi was...

    Thinking of going into basement...

The real question is, "Are you married and does your wife know what your planning?" :D My wife doesn't mind me setting up multiple aquariums, but she pretty much draws the line at cutting holes in floors and connecting them.
