How many of us are using NJ seawater?

Get any horseshoe crabs? Fluke? Blue claws? Horseshoe crabs molt too fast and you have to hand feed them daily- a pain after a while. Fluke and blue claws are predators. I don't want any predators in the reef.

How many of us are using NJ seawater?

I use kalkwasser for calcium. No other additives. Tried B-Ionic, but had mixed results. When I tested the bay water, the parameters were awesome. I would love a pristine tank, but the fish and corals are doing well. The radioactivity, being one mile from the nuclear power plant, makes the...

    Wheels for brute trash can

Rubbermaid Commercial Products Brute Trash Can Dolly-FG264020BLA - The Home Depot They are usually in stock. I use my brute can for my Kalk ATO. I don't think that the wheels would hold the full weight of the water as max load is 350 lbs. If that is similar to what you were going to use it...

I wouldn't run direct as water quality changes when boats go by. gas, drainage, stirring up of the sediment. I did think of it, but it is unpredictable when the bennies come down. lol

How many of us are using NJ seawater?

Match salinity and temp. I always use carbon, polypad and a UV. I took my lagoon's water to Tropicorium for testing and was shocked that all levels were perfect. High tide when it hasn't rained for a couple of days. I was worried about runoff, fertilizers, etc.

do you have height limitations? Also- needle wheel or injector type. I think a lot of the new skimmers are massively overrated on tank size.

    Temperature shock acropora

I was warming water for my water change and the water was warmer than the tank water. I should have waited, but did the water change anyway. The only coral that hated it was my acropora. It white tipped and started to recede in 24 hours. I fragged it and saved what I could. I lost...

How many of us are using NJ seawater?

I get water year round. When my corals look unhappy, I do a 50% water change directly from the lagoon- I adjust temp only. I don't treat it in any way. I have been doing saltwater tanks since 1984, at 11, taught by Steve from AquaOceans. Using that local water has made keeping my...

How many of us are using NJ seawater?

Just checking who else is using bay or ocean water from NJ and location. I am getting it during high tide from a Barnaget bay lagoon in Forked River. Any problems noted? I also used sand from the bay. Problem is that after about 3 months, you will get dozens of NJ crabs that were eggs...
