Temperature shock acropora

I was warming water for my water change and the water was warmer than the tank water. I should have waited, but did the water change anyway.

The only coral that hated it was my acropora. It white tipped and started to recede in 24 hours. I fragged it and saved what I could. I lost about 40% of it, but the frags are doing good and tips are not white anymore 5 days later.

I did a total rookie mistake. Just sharing my blunder.

It happens I cant tell you how many times I was doing something in my tank thinking I had it all planned out and down right only to be halfway threw and realise I,made a dumb mistake that I over looked and now it's to late

Weird question kind of.

Why only do the tips bleach and not the base? I did emergency surgery to amputate the spread. So far so good. No further death or bleaching

Just Keeping a log so if someone else has this happen, you know.
