id say the benefits are that its fresh and you know what goes in it. possibly cheaper depending on ingredients and how much is bought at a time.

better quality control

eliminates unnecessary fillers (believe me, some frozen food do!)

you can specifically cater to the type of fish/coral you're feeding

cheap, cheap, cheap


what do you mean by what "mix" to buy? Do you mean raw ingredients/constituents?
