Cleaning pumps?

I am going to clean my skimmer and pump. Do I use just plain white vinegar or is there some other type I should use. I heard to use a 50/50 solution with water. Anyone know?

I think vinegar is great for cleaning pumps. Don't forget to diassemble the pump to get out the deposits once the acid loosens them.
You could certainly clean your skimmer with vinegar, but maybe just wiping it clean is better. If you clean the inside with vinegar it will have to "break in" again.

I agree with Jim on cleaning the skimmer without vinegar. I wipe mine down once a month with paper towels, and it has worked great for me thus far. It's easier to maintain all the equipment if you regularly clean them up. :)

I also clean my pumps with white vinegar. the only thing is my skimmer goes crazy and starts overflowing everywhere. but nothing cleans better than that.
