Dead Cardinal

Woke up to a dead cardinal Not sure what happened because he was fine as of last night. Had it for 3 years and it was one of my original fish. Couldn't even take it out of the tank when I left for work because my black long spine urchin and hermits were having a feast. All other fish were showing no signs of distress.

might of just been due to natural causes? you did say you had it for 3 years, just my guess tho.

I was thinking natural causes also. I haven't added any fish or inverts to this tank in roughly 8 months. Not sure how old it was when I got it.

Was this a bangghai? Pterapogon kauderni?

Pterapogon kauderni (Banggai Cardinalfish)

The life span per the link above is around 2.5 years. Might be longer for the tank bred specimens.

it wasn't a banggai. it was this type of cardinal. when i bought it, i was told it was called a dottyback cardinal.
