HOB skimmer placement

I would recommend not placing this over the outlet on the wall. might seem like common sense but after the stand goes up, you no longer see the outlet and might forget about it. One day my skimmer decided to overflow, went down the wall and onto the outlet, heard a funny noise and saw smoke, luckily i was near the tank when it happened, almost had a fire.

that would had sucked man. Glad you were near the tank. One of the reason why I like the skimmer in a sump because if it does overflow it overflow inside the sump. Now that it own issue but at least your not flooding your floors or burning the house down.

Also, place it where you can easily access it. I am short and placing it in the middle was difficult to access the collection cup, diffuser, etc.
So now it sits in the corner.
