how I found out about NJ Reefers Club

This is my first post here on your forums and I thought it would be appropriate to share my story about how I found out about you guys. First off let me say hi to everyone and I look forward to learning from everyone and sharing what I know and learned. So about 2 weeks ago I go to my lfs to see what new stuff they got in due to not being there for awhile. I was walking down one of the rows of tanks when I felt something hit the side of my face. I was there with my girlfriend and I thought she was teasing me. To my great surprise I found a wrasse on the floor. The silly fish jumped out of its uncovered tank and happened to hit me on the side of my face. Another shopper witnessed what happened and once the fish was back in its tank we struck up a conversation about salt tanks. She then mentioned that her and her husband are part of a reefers club and gave me the information about it. So that is how I came to be here and I hope that you got a few laughs, I know I did. I look forward to the first monthly meeting that I will be able to attend once I get my membership, it's only a matter of time.

Yup sounds like the right person. I'm going to try my hardest to make it to the November meeting.

I currently live in Twp. of Hamilton or Hamilton Twp. I get them confused. The one in South Jersey, the other is up north somewhere. I too feel like a complete new guy even though I have had a salt tank on and off for 5 years. One of my favorite things about this hobby is you are always finding new information and techniques to improve your ability to house particular critters. And I'm excited to meet people who have the same passion as I do, my friends always tease me when I talk about my tank and what I have learned because they are not into as much as I.

I have a 24g aquapod that houses a green mush frag, got some orange zoas, and a wellsophyllia I think for corals. For fish I got a true occ. clown and a yellow watchman goby. I had a assie acan but the dwarf angle that I had in there decided to eat it and the coral didn't survive, should have known better. :( The angle has since been removed and would like to replace the acan soon.

LOL. I can see Jessica whipping the fish at some unsuspecting fish store patron. Oh HI! Did you know there's a reef club in NJ? ;D

How many others are good at pulling fish out of tanks by their tails? We can start a campaign!

recruitment strategy

I was referred here by a link in nano-reefs.com It was a thread that had someone in NJ asking about a good place to buy L/R corals etc. Someone linked the sale/trade thread. I've been here since then. I've also met two really cool people in the last two weeks.

You know...I'm glad you think I'm slick enough to catch a fish to fling at someone. I think that wrasse just wanted to go home. I think he was there when I was there today. Anyway...I'm glad you joined and I'm sure I will see you soon. (This time nothing fishy I promise)
