Jay's 180 gallon SPS Reef

Hey everybody, My name is Jay, I live in Levittown Pa. and I have been a lurker on this forum for a while now and after going to NJRC meeting (my first one) at Darrens last Saturday I have decided to share my tank with the rest of the NJRC community. First, I wanted to thank Darren for inviting me to the meeting and for him and his wifes generous hospitality. It was great meeting everybody at the meeting I really enjoyed rubbing elbows with other people who are as passionate about this hobby as I am.

I started this hobby like alot of people with softies, mushrooms, toadstools, torch's etc. I dabbled in SPS but I could never keep them alive. I took a trip up to Hillsborough to get some frags off this guy I met at a frag swap. His name was Smcooler. I walked down to the basement and saw his two SPS tanks and I was floored to say the least. I never saw an SPS tank so full of color like that in person. It was amazing! Ever since that day I was determined to learn as much as I could to hopefully someday have one for myself. Two years later here is my current tank. My tank is a 180 gallon Aquarium Obsessed Custom Cube (48"x36"x24"). I have incorporated a 100 gallon Rubbermaid trough as my sump. Lighting my tank is a Coralvue all-in-one Metal Halide Fixture with (2) 250w Radiums, (2) 54w ATI Blue Plus T5's and (12) Blue Moonlights. I dose ESV B-Ionic 2 part via Bubble Magus doser. I also dose Kalk via Geo Kalk Reactor. I run BRS Rox carbon through a Geo Reator. Creating a turbulent flow Im running (3) MP40's. All I use for Nutrient export is chaeto which is in my sump. For supplements I dose Lugols, Zeo Aminos and Brightwell Potassium.

My water parameters: Ca. 440
Alk 8.5
Mg 1400
PO3 0.02
NO3 0
Salinity 1.026

All I know is I hope these pics are not upside down. Here I go.

Great pics Jay. Nice to see you get a tank thread going. These pics are great but ti be honest this tank is even more amazing in person. Looks like everything is going nicely.

Beautiful tank! I see you also have a bare bottom, in my next upgrade I may do the same. In your first shot is the corner acans or favias?

Jay it was nice meeting you at Darren's meeting. I will get some pics of the space invader up and we will setup a time so I can come and pick stuff out of your tank. Thanks for joining up.

My Fish Room

My tank drains into a separate room to the right of my tank (My Mancave). I also have a 24"x24"x8" acrylic frag tank and a 20 gallon Reef Savvy Z&P tank. Both are plumbed into my Main Display.
