Friend has a Carribian Gragonian standard orange/red with same color polyps. I noticed today that it has these odd purple rings growing on one of them. Almost looks like a worm wrapped around the trunk. The other one does not have these. Anyone know if this is a parasite? If so, what kind of dip do we need? I have never seen these before.

Well, found out what it was from my boss. They are mini starfish wrapped around the stalks of the coral. He said if something like that is thriving, odds are it is a pest.
