We decided that losing power for more than 4 weeks over the 13 months as a result of storms was too much and just completed a generator installation. The device we chose is a whole home system with an automated transfer switch, so power is back within 20 seconds. The sad part is that for us we have already had an issue when power was out last week for a bit because the sun was shining (our neighborhood sucks for power consistency).
