So girlfriend and I are doing a weekend away... she wants to go to Rhode Island, settled on Providence.

Anyone familiar with area? things to see? people to do? I mean things to do....

We're going 3/17 - 3/20, it is the weekend of NCAA tournament, but tickets are $$$.

Should definitely take a side trip to Newport. Great area to walk around. Nice waterfront. There is also a path along the cliffs called the Mansion Walk that runs along the bay with the Mansions built in the 20s by the Vanderbilts, Duponts and Rockefellers in the background. They are as ostentatious as you would think but absolutely beautiful.
