Repairing a refractometer...

So, I purchased a refractometer that wound up broken, off some smhuck a little while ago, that wound up deleting his eBay account and I couldn't do crap, BUT my question is; As I calibrate it, the screw doesn't adjust enough up or down to make the scale at 0. Am I able to open this up and fix this myself, or is it a contained, sealed apparatus?

Maybe a squirt of wd-4o on screw
The screw moves perfectly fine, it's just the internal scale is somehow off and needs to be adjusted, so that the screw is able to adjust it past 0, the refractometer can work

In that case it is broken , Do not believe you can fix it, but if its a write off try to experiment on it . Can you torque it down ?
