Suggestion-

Would a mod please sticky what water parameters are supposed to be in range of-

There are quite a few questions on the board about why is this happening to my coral/fish/invert and the initial responses are usually the same: "What are your parameters?" "Check your parameters"

I think if we all stickied a guideline, everyone can check on that first if the systems are within acceptable range.

Like a FOWLR will have a different set of tolerances VS a Softie/SPS tank VS FO tank-

just a suggestion :)

Hey Rich, Randy Holmes-Farley article I included above is considered universally to be the accepted recommendations for water parameters.

Most other web forums cut the table out and post it.

Suggested Water Parameters for a tropical reef tank...

Calcium
380-450 ppm

Alkalinity
2.5-4 meq/L or 7-11 dKH or 125-200 ppm CaCO3 equivalents

Salinity
35 ppt or sg = 1.026

Temperature
76-83° F

pH
7.8-8.5 OK....8.1-8.3 is better

Magnesium
1250-1350 ppm

Phosphate
< 0.03 ppm

Ammonia
<0.1 ppm
