sweepers

a month or so I posted about my leathers sweepers.well, I decided to keep the coral as the sweepers do not seem to bother the corals anymore. Anyway , they sweepers are up to about two feet maybe 30 inches and they are out 24/7 this thing is a real beast. Copepods, mysis even baby cleaner shrimp constantly. Pretty much the greatest thing ever in a reef tank.Anyone who would like to see it .I welcome guests as enjoy showing off my tank.I am hoping i will get the opportunity to host a meeting.Anyone who said leathers don,t have sweepers well come see.

Also where do you live? If your local, I wouldn't mind checking it out.

I was looking forward to adopting the leather, but if you enjoy it, I would rather you keep it any way. When your down by Manasqaun give me a call so I can show off mt tanks!

Very interesting. I have never, ever seen a leather coral with sweeper tentacles.

Me either.
Can it be some kind of stringey thing like that come from snails?

It is possible. There is a species of snail that lives in a tube that sends out a web like substance to catch food with. I can't think of the name right now. There is also a small tube worm that does the same thing, they stay small and it can be hard to see their tubes.

thylacine, can I borrow that pic to send off to a few friends and see if they have ever seen anything like that before?

yes do what you like w pic. They positively come from the leather every centimeter or so from right under the petals. there
are like 20 of them.the leather is star shaped about 6 inches tip to tip.

I have one of those tube worms that happened to spring up right in the middle of a red mushroom patch and those strings get all over the place and make the shrooms close up. Those strings sometimes get a foot or so in length at times so it might be possible that there may be one of those in there.
